The renovated Yonkers Pier, in Yonkers, New York, and its renowned restaurant, Peter Kelly’s X2O, were recognized on Thursday, October 22, 2009 by The Novogradac Community Development Foundation (NCDF) at its Second Annual Community Development Awards luncheon held in Chicago, Ill. The project, financed through NDC’s HEDC New Markets Inc., received the award as the best New Markets Tax Credits project in the Operating Business category.

According to NCDF, these awards recognize community development entities (CDEs) that have made exceptional community development investments in small businesses, operating businesses, real estate, and metro and non-metro areas. Further, says NCDF, the winning CDEs were chosen for their well-executed vision, measurable community impact and commitment to establishing positive change by bringing more people and places into the economic mainstream. In addition to NDC’s HEDC New Markets, other winners of the Qualified Low-Income Community Investment (QLICI) awards are:

  • Tivest Development, Capmark Community Development Fund: Small Business QLICI
  • Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, Travois Authority: Non-Metro QLICI
  • Plaza Adelante, National New Markets Fund: Metro QLICI
  • Argonaut Project, Consortium America, Enterprise Community Investment, Local Initiative Support Corporation, National New Markets Fund LLC, NCB Capital Impact, US Bancorp CDC: Real Estate QLICI
