Live recording (1 hour 5 minutes): NDC CRA webinar
Presentation slides: The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)

Join us Tuesday, September 25 at 3:00 pm EDT for the next NDC Washington DC Update webinar on “Community Reinvestment Act”

The Trump Administration is considering an overhaul of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), established in 1979 to encourage financial institutions to meet the needs of borrowers in all segments of their communities, including low-and moderate-income areas. On September 1st, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s (OCC) issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) regarding the CRA. The notice provides 75 days from the date of publication for public comment on 31 questions designed to suggest possible changes to the CRA regulatory framework, which was designed to encourage financial institutions, namely banks, to help meet the credit needs of the communities that they serve, including low-income neighborhoods and underserved people. The statute has been amended several times, with the most recent change in 1999.

During this webinar, NDC will provide background on CRA and then pose a series of questions three experts concerning proposed changes and their points of view on CRA modernization.
