On Thursday, September 9, 2010, Tacoma’s Center for Urban Watersofficially opened its doors.  Governor Chris Gregoire, Congressman Norm Dicks and Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland were the featured speakers at the Center’s grand opening celebration and open house.  Jim Parvey, Assistant Director of Tacoma’s Public Works Department, congratulated all involved in the project including special recognition for NDC and the public-private partnership financing model that made this project happen.

The Center for Urban Waters, a 51,000 square-foot office and laboratory building, was completed in spring 2010 – on time and on budget. The new City of Tacoma facility was constructed to house the City’s Environmental Services Division labs and offices, University of Washington Tacoma research labs, and an office for the Puget Sound Partnership.
